Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks was seen with Ron Howard in his next role, as commander and astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995). The film was widely lauded by critics in addition to the performance of the entire group (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris) and Kathleen Quinlan. The movie also earned nine Academy Award nominations, winning two. Hanks played the role of Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated movie Toy Story (1995). In the following year the director made his debut with the musical comedy That Thing You Do! The story tells of the downfall and the rise of a rock group. Hanks also takes on the role of music producer. Time magazine's Richard Schickel called it "charming" and many experts agree that Hanks performances earned him a place among the top romantic comedy actors of in his generation.
